Song In My Head #38: “Sudbury Saturday Night” by Stompin’ Tom Connors

Like most people born south of the 49th parallel, I only knew Stompin’ Tom Connors (1936-2013) for “The Hockey Song.” It took two classic Canadian books to expand my horizons. Geoff Pevere and Greig Dymond’s Mondo Canuck taught me about Connors’ extensive discography, while Dave Bidini‘s On A Cold Road extolled the virtues of his songs. I’m especially fond of this catchy, shuffling slice of life from the New Brunswick native’s 1970 album Bud The Spud and Other Favorites:
