Song In My Head #45: “Come On Baby Grace” by Boston Spaceships

While it’s not easy to keep up with the prolific output of Guided By Voices leader Robert Pollard, I thought I was pretty well-versed. A few days ago, I learned how mistaken I was. In the current issue of Magnet, Broadway star and singer-songwriter Michael Cerveris proclaims the glory of Pollard’s  short-lived trio Boston Spaceships. My chagrin at missing the Spaceships’ heyday turned to delight at discovering the brilliant songs left in their wake. Cerveris favors the Spaceships’ 2009 staccato singalong “How Wrong You Are.” My heart, however, firmly lies with the big chords and falsetto chorus of their 2010 power-pop classic “Come On Baby Grace.” Dig it!
